Node were commissioned by Walsall Council to produce a heritage assessment to assist the Walsall Connected Gateway project in understanding the specific heritage matters emerging from the prospective alterations (up to and including demolition) of a selection of traditional buildings located within the development area.
The scheme required careful consideration of many heritage sensitivities, given its context within the Bridge Street Conservation Area, and the consideration of the buildings for inclusion within the Walsall LocalList.
We produced a heritage statement assessing the significance of each of the affected heritage assets, to support the project team to understand the scheme’s heritage context.
As appointed heritage consultant we also engaged with the local authority conservation officer, to understand their perspective of the significance of the identified buildings.
