Jewellery Quarter Development Trust

Approach

Node provided urban design and heritage support, together with project management expertise in the production of the Jewellery Quarter Design Guide, working with the Jewellery Quarter Development Trust and a working group of volunteer architect and landscape architect authors from within the Jewellery Quarter.

Work had been developing on the design guide for a period of some years prior to our appointment. Our mission was to deliver a draft document within a tight timeframe to accompany the draft Jewellery Quarter Neighbourhood Plan.

Result

We liaised with Birmingham City Council and the Development Trust to define how the Design Guide should sit in the context of other documents in the Jewellery Quarter.

We provided oversight regarding the existing materials that had been produced, including the proposed draft structure for the document. We worked with the authors via a series of workshops and briefing notes regarding the content, tone and appearance of materials. We subsequently provided an editing role on the materials, bringing together the content into a single volume.
