Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council – District council that represents Dudley, Stourbridge, Brierley Hill and Halesowen
We undertook a conservation area appraisal and identified opportunities for enhancement of Sedgley’s conservation area, which is centred around its grade II* listed Church of All Saints. We created a fully itemised photographic survey of all of the buildings and key features within the conservation area.
A conservation area appraisal, was produced in line with best practice as established by Historic England and submitted for public consultation. We created a detailed record of All Saints Conservation Area, which provides a detailed history of the area and showcases its development. We also provided an assessment of the condition of the area at the present moment in time and determining guidelines for its future development. This included opportunities for enhancement of the area, such as landscape improvements, public realm and streetscene enhancements as well as opportunity sites for redevelopment. Our work will help to ensure the on-going conservation of the area and will provide a basis for Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council to make decisions about how to positively develop the area. We never want the heritage of an area to be abused; instead it should improve its legacy.
