Private Residence
Node’s approach to the concept design at Windmill Lane was focused on a fully integrated relationship between building and landscape. Initial studies explored how the sloped nature of the site could be utilised to create a proposal that feels like an organic emergence of place, rather than an imposition on the site. Working alongside BPN Architects, the design process was rooted in a landscape-led approach.
The result is a proposal that creates a residential layout that delivers a landscape experience. Views in and out have been carefully orchestrated to give a feeling that the building is embedded in the natural form and has emerged from it. Wider landscape elements, such as viewing corridors, existing woodland and vegetation and the proximity to the greenbelt were key drivers in the design development.
