Node were commissioned by BPN Architects to support the submission of a planning application and listed building consent for the refurbishment, part change of use, and extension of a grade II listed building in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
The scheme required careful consideration of many heritage sensitivities, given its context within the Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area, and the Jewellery Quarter Neighbourhood Plan designated area.
We produced a heritage statement to support the planning application and listed building consent, following detailed analysis of the site and its surroundings. We also undertook a detailed site inspection, and produced a professional historic building recording equating to ‘Level 1’ of the Historic England guidance.
As appointed heritage consultant we also engaged with, and mediated between, key stakeholders within the Jewellery Quarter and Birmingham on matters of historic environment.
