In January’s blog, I examined the relationship between the built environment and obesity, focussing on how design could play a role in improving uptake of exercise. Today, I am looking at the other key factor in the obesity epidemic: unhealthy eating.
Not since the immediate post war period has there been such emphasis on the importance of housing as a political, social and economic issue, both in terms of its widely accepted undersupply and its affordability. It is within this context that the long awaited Housing White Paper was today published by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
The groundbreaking rise of social media is quite evident in our modern day, as it has grown to become completely integrated into our daily lives. These social networking platforms allow individuals to share information about themselves to the world, through profiles that develop one’s personal brand image. It is not uncommon for people to check up regularly on their social media profiles, whether it be updating their Facebook status, sharing a picture on Instagram, or tweeting a message on Twitter.
