Land and Partners – Privately owned development company with an exemplary track record of land promotion
We worked extensively with the local community and local development company to ensure the project met their requirements and reflected the recommendations of the neighbourhood plan.
The approach allowed us to discover that the best solution for the project was to split the development into three smaller infill sites, which would reduce the overall impact of the development on the neighbourhood. We submitted three masterplans that were supported by design and access statements. LVIAs were also submitted for outline planning permission.
We sought to help alleviate some of the local housing need by designing for a mix of housing types, including some smaller homes to provide affordable accommodation for young and old. With the help of Charlie Luxton Design and the local community we created a community store located on Castle Street to provide a focus in the heart of the village. We also created more parking for the local primary school to reduce congestion and improve pedestrian safety at a busy point in the village. By working on three, smaller sites instead of one large one, the scheme helps to preserve the historic character of the village and cause less disruption to the local community. Lastly, our redesign of Castle Street creates a safer and more attractive environment for pedestrians walking through the village to the school or shops. This project was all about the local community and we wanted to create a place that made a real difference to the way people interacted.
