Approach
We worked closely with Associated Architects to develop the design and oversee the construction stages for an enhanced public realm associated with the refurbishment of student facilities for Coventry University at Mile Lane.
Integrating a significant pedestrian avenue into an existing car park and providing appropriate accessibility, the Node design team were instrumental in creating a functional and more pleasant environment for users of the building. A mature tree avenue, new planting and lighting, as well as a rear cafe courtyard space were all designed with the aim of creating a higher quality external realm.
Impact
The scheme was approved by the planning authority and has now reached completion. Node were instrumental in the construction stages, providing responses to technical queries and ensuring the project stayed on programme. The result is a scheme whereby pedestrians intuitively have priority and the car park is downplayed within the building setting.
