Approach

Creation of a heritage sensitive, borough wide ‘Good Design Guide’ SPD for Hinckley and Bosworth BC, together with ongoing design support to the planning team on major applications, including support at planning appeal. 

The SPD aspires to: 

Substantially raise design quality in Hinckley and Bosworth Borough whilst ensuring that the local identity and heritage of the borough is preserved and enhanced. 

Result

The SPD does the following:

1. Provides details of the design development and planning application process

2. Provides borough-wide, strategic urban design principles

3. Provides place-specific understanding and principles that reflects the borough’s rich local identity

4. Provides use-specific principles on key development types

Our work on the project, together with our wider experience undertaking conservation area appraisals has ensured that we have a strong understanding of local authority processes, including local plan production, stakeholder consultation and the need for a thorough approach, together with the imperative to adhere to an agreed timetable and budget.
