Approach
Node were commissioned by North Devon Council to progress phase one of the design for an improved pedestrian route and viewing areas on the Capstone Hill. This geological feature sits immediately on the seafront and provides a natural elevation of 50m AOD. Stunning views can be experienced from the top; of Ilfracombe town, the coastline and out to sea.
The work Node carried out went towards securing funding from the Coastal Communities Fund, in order to finance the project. Health and well-being was at the heart of the proposals, giving locals and visitors a viable route to take exercise, hold group events and enjoy the natural resources offered by the North Devon coast.
Impact
The proposals seek to marry nature and accessibility, forming connections between man made structures and natural forms to provide an embedded outcome that feels timeless, whilst also providing for the needs of modern demands.
