Node provided expert witness services on heritage matters in support of Birmingham City Counci’s refusal of a planning application within the setting of the Edgbaston Conservation Area, and associated listed buildings.

The development included a 26-storey tower deemed to present harmful outcomes for historic environment through its visual prominence within the traditionally domestic-scaled historic estate.

Impact

Node deployed its specialism in assessing the potential impacts of tall buildings within the setting of heritage assets to produce and defend expert proofs of evidence, and worked with the council and their appointed representatives throughout the planning inquiry process to create a robust defence of the reasons for refusal.
