Node acted as heritage consultant in support of an ambitious and unique scheme at the heart of Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter.
The proposal is a first-of-its-kind urban farm on top of a multi-storey car park within a conservation area, and in the setting of multiple designated heritage assets. The proposals are from Slow Food Birmingham, a grassroots organisation that promotes local food production. The scheme will include glasshouses, community spaces and gardens, an education hub and cafe.
Impact
Node produced a heritage statement to support the planning application, following detailed analysis of the site and its surroundings. As appointed heritage consultant we also engaged with, and mediated between, key stakeholders within the Jewellery Quarter and Birmingham on matters of historic environment.
