St Joseph Homes: Berkeley’s local brand was created to bring their passion for quality, place making and building communities to Birmingham and the West Midlands.
Client
Approach
Node won a competitive tender to prepare landscape designs for a high quality residential development at Eastside Locks in Birmingham city centre on behalf of Berkeley Homes’ local development arm: St Joseph Homes.
Node worked collaboratively with the wider design team which included Glenn Howells Architects to create a design for the site which optimised the use of public realm and private courtyards and maximised the opportunity presented by the site’s canalfront location in Birmingham’s Eastside.
Impact
The proposals created a series of unique private courtyards for residents with a new public space adjacent to the canal. Significant pre-application consultation took place with Birmingham City Council.
St Joseph Homes recognised the value associated with the quality of the public realm from the outset and as such, the landscape design was a key part of the overall site design strategy.
